SMALL SIDED GAMES
EBOOK
Different small-area game systems are an essential part of all training. In this phase of the session, we can most effectively train the player's combinatory skills as well as his decision-making ability, in addition to the fact that we can also train the correct execution of tasks under full pressure during the Small Sided Games.
What is SSG about?
The characteristic of Small Sided Games is continuous, full-pressure play. The method and types of this vary according to age group and level. We will detail the definition of the full-pressure game in our professional material, however, the path leading up to now, technical training and pressing are covered in more detail in our professional material 1v1 Moves. Within full-pressure game systems, at the level of education, we distinguish between the following: games with the same number of players, games with advantageous and disadvantageous numbers, and 1 v 1 games. We analyze the possibilities of these types, ball possession during practice, utilization of situations and pitch types in detail.
ATTACKING
MINDSET
Why do we recommend it?
Smaller numbers: Smaller groups play in a smaller area. As a result, the game speeds up, forcing players to make faster decisions, scan, pass strength and accuracy. In the case of smaller groups, if we observe it onto the individual, he touches the ball more often, he has to react faster, which means that the speed of the player's development also increases.
Furthermore, another advantage is that the coach can pay more attention to the role of the players in small groups. As mentioned earlier, the smaller area forces the player to make faster decisions, meanwhile the pressure on him increases, which we must pay more attention to in this part of training.
The number-ratio
Same-number game: As their name suggests, these exercises represent a drill with the same number of players from 1v1 to 11v11. In these exercises, one-on-one situations are emphasized the most.
Number advantageous /disadvantageous play: In these exercises, if the majority of players have the ball, the priority is to practice ball possession, and if the majority of players have the ball, counterplay is the priority. We can create number differences in several ways: both in the initial and situational sense: initial and situational number differences.
